Rubber Speed Humps Detail View
What are Speed Humps?
Rubber Speed Humps prevent speeding in certain road sections that require slow driving speeds, and restrict the entrance of cars to residential areas or school districts.
Where should Speed Humps be installed?
1. In places that require cars to reduce speed, e.g., near schools, kindergartens, children’s playgrounds, neighborhood parks, and secondary roads.
2. On roads that do not differentiate between sidewalks and driveways, and where there is an increased danger of traffic accidents because there are many pedestrians or children playing.
3. Near housing complexes, neighborhood shopping facilities, schools, hospitals, and religious facilities that have many passing cars and require speed restrictions.
4. Near the parking lot entrances of apartments, shopping centers, and large buildings.
Features and Comparison with Ascon Products
| Modular Speed Humps | Ascon Speed Humps |
| 1. The standard sizes give peace of mind. | 1. Dimensions are irregular and traffic control is less secure. |
| 2. Colors are vivid and drivers can slow down sufficiently before the Speed Humps. | 2. Paint wears off easily, reducing visibility of the Speed Hump and causing dangerous, sudden stops. |
| 3. Semi-permanent and can be partially repaired. | 3. Can be distorted easily and must be repaired every year. |
| 4. Installation is simple (30 minutes) and economic. | 4. Installation is long and expensive (about 250,000 won per meter) |
| 5. Simple installation causes no obstacle to traffic. | 5. Long installation period causes traffic jams. |
| 6. Can be installed anywhere. | 6. Difficult to install in underground concrete roads and highway rest stops. |
| 7. The removed parts can be crushed and reused. | 7. Damaged sections cannot be recycled or re-used. |
Why are Ascon Speed Humps so easily distorted?
Ascon Speed Humps become distorted less than a year after installation due to hot weather, but more importantly because in Korea there is no curved surface working equipment making ascon, with its low compound ratio of gravels and sands which , easier to work with. This, instead of installing much-need new Speed Humps, Speed Humps are always being repaired. This chronic problem can only be solved with Shindo’s Modular Speed Humps.
